Advice from the community

Microsoft Learn is passionate about helping you build your skills and achieve your goals. This is easier to do when you have a community of support to guide you during your learning journey. Hearing from others just like you, encouraging them to share their stories–the ups and downs–and learning from their successes (or failures) can help us all find a learning path that fits. We have heard from our diverse and vibrant community of learners and wanted to share some of their wisdom with you. A little inspiration may be all you need to spark your possibilities.

Check out some key pieces of advice from our own Microsoft Learn community:

1. Start with the basics.

“Visit Microsoft Learn, explore the content, start with something simple and then find your pace.” – Christos Avlonitis

Not sure where to begin? We can help you with that. Microsoft Learn has several resources that can help identify which path or certification might be right for you. The first step is to simply begin! Get started with Fundamentals.

2. Identify your learning goals.

“Before heading straight down to Microsoft Learn, be clear in your mind what skills you want to learn to upskill, reskill, advance your career, and focus on what you want to achieve.” – Manoj Bora

3. Don’t be afraid to fail.

“Learning a new skill takes time and effort. Be patient and persistent, and don’t give up if you face challenges or setbacks. With dedication and effort, you can achieve your learning goals with Microsoft Learn.” – Vipul Jain

Microsoft CEO, Satya Natella, has long been a champion of the growth mindset. He captured it best when he said, “The learn-it-all does better than the know-it-all … you can’t really look at every failure as a failure, you’ve got to be able to look at the failure as a learning opportunity." Microsoft Learn is here to support you through obstacles and help you stay on the right track, no matter what. Facilitated by Microsoft Learn experts, learning rooms are designed to offer you a dedicated and safe environment where you can directly engage with an expert and dive into topic-specific questions and get the support you need. 4. Don’t rush the process.

“Start slow, don’t rush it. Set a path and follow it, try to complete the learning plans on your own time but take a module or two a day.” – Alexander van der Pol

Microsoft Learn offers several different learning paths, modules, and training that can be done at your own pace, and in a style that fits your life. You are in the driver’s seat! Learn at your own pace.

5. Create a study plan and stick to it.

“Try and plan out a schedule that works best for you and just dive in deep daily.” – Ayomide Akodu

Many of our learners must find time to build skills and prepare for certification exams while juggling a full-time job or rigorous class schedule. The Microsoft Learn Community can offer advice and guidance on how to manage it all and achieve success. Visit our Tech Community to seek advice.

6. Celebrate your accomplishments.

“Share your work on Twitter, share your work on LinkedIn. People are always willing to help.“ – Bidemi Muibudeen

With Microsoft Learn’s new sharing feature, it is now easier than ever to share certifications and module completions directly onto Twitter and LinkedIn. Marketing yourself, new skills and achievements can bring you one step closer to landing that dream job or big promotion. Share your skills and achievements.
