How to Build an Inclusive Tech Culture in Hybrid Work
Microsoft 365
How can you retain top talent, spark innovation, and develop trust in your team? Creating a work culture that celebrates diverse opinions and believes in inclusion — in which all team members can openly share their thoughts and ideas — isn’t always easy, but it should be our goal. Inclusion can also mean empowering your team with flexibility to work in the ways that best align with their lives. In this session you’ll hear from a panel of top tech leaders — all women who oversee large, global, diverse and remote teams — as they discuss their challenges and successes in building inclusive cultures, and how they make sure every team member has a voice. The SXSW panel’s top tips for fostering inclusion in hybrid work: • Resist the urge to start the meeting chitchat before you join Teams, Colette says, so colleagues joining virtually aren’t left out. • Ask, does this have to be a meeting? Stitch Fix’s Linda Aiello says working asynchronously allows people with different work styles to thrive. • Hire based on skills, not where someone went to college or where they worked previously. “Skills is your currency,” says LinkedIn’s Erica Lockheimer. • Make sure you have a diverse hiring panel. Says Adobe’s Maria Yap: “You want to represent what you’re trying to build.” Learn more about Microsoft’s Future of Work efforts here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/worklab #Microsoft #Microsoft365
